MUMBAI: Actor Ranbir Kapoor returned to his hometown Mumbai on Monday morning after promoting his highly anticipated film Ramayana at the San Diego Comic-Con. Photographers spotted the actor exiting the airport premises in a casual navy blue t-shirt, comfortable trousers, and his signature beret cap.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is produced by Namit Malhotra, Founder of Prime Focus and Global CEO of the Academy Award-winning visual effects studio DNEG. Ever since its announcement, the project has remained one of the most talked-about Indian films.
The two-part cinematic adaptation is inspired by the ancient Indian epic. It chronicles the journey of Lord Ram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, tracing his life as the prince of Ayodhya, his 14-year exile, and his legendary battle against Ravana.
Stellar Star Cast
The film features an ensemble cast with Ranbir Kapoor essaying the role of Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Laxman. The makers recently held a grand event in Delhi, which was attended by the entire star cast.
Ranbir Pays Tribute to Arun Govil
During the Delhi event, Ranbir paid a heartfelt tribute to veteran actor Arun Govil, who immortalised the character of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s iconic television series. Govil will be portraying the role of King Dasharatha in Nitesh Tiwari’s version.
Speaking at the event, Ranbir said, “Arun ji, you have carried this responsibility for so many years with such beauty, truth, and dignity. Your journey has not only inspired an actor like me, but everyone who watched Ramanand Sagar‘s Ramayana. You gave people faith and inspiration. The way you allowed Lord Shri Ram to embody within you, if I can achieve even a fraction of that, I will feel all my hard work has paid off.”
Music and Release Schedule
The film’s background score and soundtrack are composed by Academy Award winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Part one of Ramayana is scheduled to hit cinemas during Diwali 2026, while the second installment is expected to release in Diwali 2027.
