NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the updated 2026 Brezza facelift in the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 7.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Country’s largest carmaker has introduced mechanical upgrades, structural safety improvements, and feature updates to keep its popular sub-4-meter SUV competitive against rivals like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet, Skoda Kylaq, and Kia Syros.
New 1.0L Turbo Engine and Updated Gearbox Options
The biggest mechanical update in the 2026 Brezza facelift comes under the hood. Following the Fronx, the Brezza becomes Maruti’s second SUV to feature the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder direct-injection Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, delivering 110hp and 170Nm of peak torque.
Maruti continues to offer the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (103hp, 139Nm torque), which also remains available with a factory-fitted CNG option. On the transmission front, the older 5-speed manual transmission has been phased out entirely. A 6-speed manual gearbox is now standard across all powertrain options, while the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine retains its 6-speed automatic transmission option.
Underbody CNG Tank Enhances Boot Space
Following the underbody tank setup seen in the recent ‘Victoris’ technology, the 2026 Brezza CNG variants now feature an underbody-mounted CNG tank. By removing the traditional cylinder from the boot area, the SUV offers significantly increased luggage space. However, Maruti has replaced the conventional spare wheel across all powertrains, including CNG, with a standard puncture repair kit.
Exterior Styling Upgrades
Visual changes on the 2026 Brezza facelift are evolutionary:
- Front Profile: Redesigned front grille featuring a dark chrome panel connecting the headlamps.
- Bumpers & Skid Plates: Updated front and rear bumpers with dark chrome accents and a new faux skid plate.
- Lighting: The basic layout of twin-pod LED headlights with L-shaped DRLs and rear taillamps remains unchanged, though fog lamps are now placed slightly higher in new triangular housings.
- Wheels & Colors: Fresh 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a new Black & Brown exterior color option.
Tech Upgrades and Interior Features
Inside, the cabin adopts a Black and Brown theme accented with gloss black highlights. The main highlight is a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a revised UI/UX interface, replacing the outgoing 9-inch unit.
Key features added to the 2026 Brezza facelift include:
- Front ventilated seats with leatherette upholstery
- 64-color ambient lighting and built-in air purifier
- Arkamys audio system
- Wireless smartphone charger with cooling pad
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with Alexa integration
5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
The 2026 Brezza facelift has secured a full 5-star crash-test safety rating from Bharat NCAP (up from the 4-star Global NCAP rating of the outgoing model).
Standard and available safety kit includes 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and front parking sensors. An ADAS suite, however, is not offered on this update.
